Spread the love

Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of content out there targeting married millennials. In my opinion, one has to get ready for marriage long before marriage happens. Many people don’t do this. We ultimately race to the finish line that is divorce because you don’t know what you don’t know.

Getting Prepared

Because I started preparing for marriage long before I met my husband and was proposed to, we get along pretty well. Some of the things I did was surround myself around other married people. If not married, then certainly those in long-term relationships. I asked questions and received answers that challenged my current perspective and what I knew as reality but I was open to seeing things a different way whether or not I agreed with it. I consumed a lot of content just to see what other people were saying and I found that the one thing I disagreed with the most.

It was that everyone else that had what I had understood that was in agreement with.

Maybe it was true. Relationships take a lot of work and forgiveness. My pride was not trying to hear that. My immature mindset at the time thought, “you mean to tell me that people get to do things to me and get away with it?”

Talk it Out

Because we share ideas all the time just to learn about each other’s perspectives surrounding various situations. if a situation ever arises in our relationship, we won’t be surprised.

Above all, If you are single and want to marry here is a list of content that I recommend you consume immediately. Make sure to not only consume but to have conversations about with either your friends, family or significant other.

A big part of being in a working relationship is to understand the biggest areas where you need healing. Work on your own self-love and standards before you get with anyone. Know what your limits are and what theirs are too.

To ensure that you’re clear on what it means to be married, I’ve conducted a list of some of my favorite resources and useful content on the subject matter below.
